“GCSP formalized and directed my desire to be a truly multidisciplinary engineer. As a scholar, my main focus was research in fat metabolism diseases and designing advanced mass spectrometry instruments that could be used to better characterize pharmaceuticals and diseased tissue. GCSP encouraged me to look beyond the research lab and grow as a career mentor, teacher, entrepreneur, and global citizen. GCSP truly molded me into a well-rounded engineer which I continue benefit from now as physician scientist. I am currently at the Mayo Clinic finishing my first two years of medical school and starting my first year of graduate school. Clinically, I hope to practice radiation oncology, and scientifically I focus on computational, systems, and synthetic biology approaches to cancer therapeutics in the lab of Dr. Hu Li.”
