“A question I've always asked myself: ‘What makes someone a great innovator and allows them stand out from the rest?’ I have come to find out that someone who will make an impact on the world does not approach a problem in any one specified way. They don't follow a formula that can be found in a textbook. They use years of experiences and opportunities to shape their skills in order to think outside the box. They avoid functional fixedness - a cognitive bias that limits a person to use an object only in the way it is traditionally used. This term became very important to my development as an innovator, engineer, mentor, and colleague. GCSP gave me these experiences and opportunities to turn my passions into a reality and become an innovator that offers a unique perspective when tackling everyday problems and challenges. GCSP shaped my entire college experience and emphasized the importance of being well-rounded that allowed me to have experiences that will never be forgotten.”
