"Without GCSP, I would have never been introduced to the Materials Science Lab at UND that I spent two years working at in my undergrad. My grand challenges were improving carbon sequestration technology and providing access to clean water. To combine these two I worked on a ceramic water filter that stores carbon dioxide, utilizes waste materials and is energy efficient. GCSP inspired me to join Engineers without Borders on campus which lead me to continue on the path of service and non profit work. This fall I will be volunteering with Construction for Change where I will work in construction management on renovations of health clinics in Togo, Africa. I cannot thank the Grand Challenge Scholars Program enough for the doors they have opened for me and the many opportunities provided to grow as an engineer."
