“GCSP provided me with the ideal framework to explore my interest of applying engineering principles to better healthcare. As an undergraduate, my research involved engineering new genetic constructs to better understand the pathways that underly prostate cancer and serve as mutation models for drug discovery projects. At the same time, the program encouraged me to explore ways of bringing innovation from the laboratory to the bedside. I engaged in entrepreneurship within my school of engineering, and a project I developed to aid English-limited immigrants was a finalist in the Min Entrepreneurship Challenge. I am now a medical student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and continue to engage in research to improve cancer care. GCSP has provided me with the engineering mindset necessary to lead a career of medical innovation.”
